Metal buildings in Severance, CO.

We supply garages, shops, pole barns and more across Severance and the Weld County farm ground between Windsor and Eaton. Our work reaches from new neighborhoods in town to the working farms around them, and anywhere else you’re building. In a Severance subdivision, the neighborhood often has to approve a building before the town will.

What people build around Severance

Garages go up in the newer neighborhoods, and farm buildings and shops go up on the ground around them.

Detached garages

Garages and workshops go up on lots in town. Tubular steel is usually the answer.

Pole barns & ag

Equipment storage and hay barns go up on farm ground. Red iron takes over past eighty feet.

Acreage shops

Shops and RV storage go up on rural lots outside town.

Finished space

Steel truss is the fit here. Drywall attaches to the frame, so there’s no second wall to build.

Permitting metal buildings in Severance and Weld County

The town permits inside its limits. Outside them, Weld County does.

Inside Severance

  • The town adopted the 2024 I-codes in December 2025 and kept its local amendments.
  • Only sheds of 120 sq ft or less with a roof no more than 10 feet above grade skip the building permit.
  • SAFEbuilt publishes the town’s pole barn and accessory structure guides. Town Hall is at 3 S. Timber Ridge Parkway.

Neighborhood approval

  • Many Severance neighborhoods are metro districts or HOAs with architectural review.
  • In Severance Shores, for example, an accessory building isn’t allowed without committee approval, and only one is allowed per lot.
  • That committee approves the drawings before they go to the town for a permit.

Unincorporated Weld County

  • On A-zoned ground, a farm building gets an Agricultural-Exempt Certificate of Compliance.
  • It has to stay in farm use, and parking a private or commercial vehicle inside reclassifies it so it needs a building permit.
  • For a residential ag building, the parcel needs a house on it.

Check the neighborhood before the town. In a Severance subdivision, the metro district or HOA may have to approve a garage or shop before the town will see it, and some limit how many you can have. We work from their guidelines from the first drawing.

We also serve Windsor, Timnath, Greeley, Lucerne and the farm ground between them. See Eaton, Northern Colorado or all of Colorado.
