What people build in Chino Valley

Acreage and horse property set the tone here, and the buildings work for a living.

Horse barns & hay

Barns, run-in shelter and hay storage go up on horse property. Red iron takes over past eighty feet.

Shops & garages

Unfinished and under sixty feet wide, tubular steel is usually the answer, insulated or not.

RV & equipment storage

Settle the door before the footprint. Every two feet of eave above twelve adds roughly five percent to the frame.

Barndominiums

Steel truss is the fit. Drywall attaches to the frame, so there’s no second wall to build.

Permitting metal buildings in Chino Valley

The town’s criteria

  • The town is on the 2024 building codes.
  • Roof snow is 30 psf and can’t be reduced. Ground snow is 43 psf. Wind design is 105 mph.
  • Footings go 18 inches below grade, and the building official handles flood hazard.

What to submit

  • Two sets of plans drawn to scale, plus a site plan showing setbacks, the well and the septic system.
  • On septic, the plot plan also goes through Yavapai County.
  • Development Services is at 1982 Voss Drive.

The permit clock

  • Construction has to start within 180 days of the permit being issued.
  • After that, progress has to be shown every 180 days or the permit expires.

Time the permit to the delivery. A Chino Valley permit expires if work doesn’t start within 180 days. We line up the permit with the delivery and concrete schedule so the clock doesn’t run out while you wait on steel.

We also serve Paulden, Williamson Valley and Skull Valley. See Prescott & central Arizona or all of Arizona.
