What people build in Teton County

Jackson Hole, under the Tetons, where heavy snow loads shape every building.

Engineered for mountain snow. Tubular steel suits most garages.

Horse barns

Stalls, tack rooms and hay storage on valley acreage. Red iron takes over past eighty feet.

Permitting metal buildings in Teton County

Permits

  • The county enforces the 2024 International Codes with local amendments.
  • Only one-story detached accessory structures up to 200 sq ft skip the building permit.

Farm buildings

  • One private-use farm building per parcel is exempt if the parcel is over 2 acres, the eaves are 10 feet or lower and the roof area is 600 sq ft or less.
  • It can’t be lived in or used as a workplace, and electrical, septic and land development permits still apply.

Contractors & fire

  • Contractors doing permitted work must hold a Teton County license.
  • Homes and accessory structures of 5,000 sq ft or more need an automatic fire sprinkler system.

In Teton County, 5,000 sq ft brings sprinklers. A large barn or shop at that size needs an automatic fire sprinkler system, which changes the budget. We flag it early so you can choose the size knowing the full cost.

We also serve Wilson, Alta, Moran and Hoback. See all of Wyoming.
