Hunting lodge in Pagosa Springs
A 50′ × 120′ ladder leg tubular building for an outfitter, up in the San Juan Mountains where snow load sets the design.
What the building had to do
An outfitter needed a lodge that could house guests through the season in country that gets real winter. The building is fifty feet wide and a hundred and twenty feet long, up in the San Juans.
Why tubular
This is the project we point to when someone assumes tubular is only for small shops. Ladder leg framing builds the column and rafter as an open truss from the same tube stock, and that configuration carries the width and the snow this building needed.
Fifty feet sits near the upper end of what tubular does well, and here it was the right answer.
In the mountains, snow sets the design. At this elevation the roof load comes down to snow, so the frame was engineered to the loads at the address before anything shipped.
