Tumbles gymnastics facility
An 85′ × 135′ red iron building with a 20′ eave, fully insulated, in our home town of Bolivar, Missouri.
What the building had to do
A gymnastics floor needs width with nothing standing in it. This building had to clear eighty-five feet with no interior columns and leave enough height above the floor for tumbling and aerial work. A column anywhere inside would have made it unusable for its actual purpose.
Why red iron
Past eighty feet, red iron is the only sensible answer. It’s built for long clear spans and tall eaves, and nothing else we supply reaches eighty-five feet without a column.
The frame is grey oxide primed, with cold-formed purlins and girts.
Built for year-round use
The building is insulated throughout with four inches of fiberglass batt. Children are on the floor all year, and the heating bill runs against a very large volume of air.
The owner knew he wanted red iron before he called. Our job was to supply it and get the details right. When you already know what fits, that’s what you get.
